Why Should I Train My Dog?

For your dog's safty have him trained. Your dog will come away from danger when called.

I have a neighbor who owns a dog. The dog has not been trained. She had her dog on a lead and thought that there would be no problem. Another dog came down the street and her dog felt threatened. Her dog attack the other dog. Three thousand dollars in vet bills. This is what she took from her experience.

If a dog is trained. The dog would heel. One hand gesture or a voice command can prevent a problem.

Training your dog to heel can be done by shortening the leash. Gently pulling the dog back into the required position. Giving the voice command or hand gesture.

When starting to train your dog to walk with you. Choose a place that is away from busy streets or walk ways.

When a dog starts to listen and follow your commands. You need to praise him.

Praise is just one of the methods used to train your dog. The use of food or play can also be a good motivator. Each dog responds differently. Try the different methods out and see which works best for you.
