What is Craigslist and New York

The Craigslist was established in 1995 by Craig Newmark for the San Francisco Bay Area. It is an online centralized network of online communities comprising of free classified advertisements with jobs, housing, and internships, erotic services and services like sales, wanted services and pet's categories and various such other services. This was also used as forums on different topics. By September 2007 Craigslist was operating in 450 cities in 50 countries. Craiglist and New York are inseparable today.

Even though Craigslist is operating in such a big way it has only 24 employees. The income is generated by the paid ads in some special cities and broker apartment listings in New York as seen in Craiglist and New York. Craigslist is a leading classified service amongst all mediums. It has viewership of about thirty million.

Usually communities like Craig list and New York grow slowly depending on the size of the members and their contribution. The Craigslist grew within in the next 3 years and the network expanded to 22 cities and by the end of 2007 it had reached to 50 countries around the world with more than 450 cities in its network.

Within a short span of time the growth of Craigslist has proved to be tremendous taking over the ninth place among the web sites in the United States of America. More than nine billion viewers view this website every month and has taken over the 56th place among all the web sites that are available throughout the world. Craigs list and New York combine together to offer people this helpful service.

Craigslist made its debut in early 1995. Most of the early postings were made by Newmark, and were advertisements of social happenings of interest to software and Internet developers who lived and worked in San Francisco. They saw quick success thanks to word of mouth, and the number of postings and subscribers grew fast.

People soon started using this site to put up non-event postings because they found it easier to get in touch with people with skills they were looking for, and a separate category called "Jobs" was put up.

Some of the early postings and notifications relating social gatherings and events were relatively submitted by NewMark. Information about internet and software developers was also made available on the Craigslist.

Suddenly there was a steep increase in the number of postings and subscribers. People started to use the mailing lists that were certainly non - eventful and discovered that the technical positions which proved to be vacant can be filled up easily. This finally led to the addition of job category. The constant demand for many categories indirectly led to the increase in number of categories.

Realizing that the website was doing so well, Newmark gave up working as a software engineer and took to running craigslist full time. In April 2000, he had nine people working for Craigslist out of his apartment on Cole Street in San Francisco. This website, according to Newmark gave people a chance to voice their thoughts, develop a community trust, and closeness. Besides this, craiglist and New York promotes down-to-earth values, good customer services, and simplicity.
