Location Considerations for the Honeymooning Couple

As you are picking out a suitable honeymoon location, it is tempting to look at some of the more tacky brochures and simply discredit the locale by virtue of an overdone - or perhaps underdone - ad for a resort or location, but keep in mind that you are not always able to judge an area by its marketing materials and instead will need to have insider information prior to making your decision.

In order to properly plan your honeymoon it is vital that you take some time away from your wedding plans to give proper attention to putting together that first vacation you and your new spouse will be taking together. If at all possible, work together with your future spouse on the planning phase to ensure that both of you will get what you are looking for out of this event and thus will begin creating wonderful memories from the get go.

Money may be a serious limitation and while a trip around the world would sound like a lot of fun, your budget may not take you much further than the next county. In the same vein, be open to the idea of staying entirely local so as to save money not only with the transportation but also with the accommodations. When you look around your area, you may be surprised to find a plethora of desirable vacation spots and thus honeymooning opportunities.

For example, if your marriage celebration takes place in winter, then you may be closer to honeymooning in a winter wonderland than you might realize! Colorado is famous the world over for its wonderful winter resorts, but so is California! Look around your state or the neighboring state to explore some of your options. The odds are good that you will be surprised at what you will uncover!

A summer wedding lends itself to beach pursuits such as snorkeling, taking a pontoon boat onto a lake, or renting a houseboat for a week. Whether you choose to honeymoon at a lake, resort, river, or ocean, you are bound to have some great options open to you. At the same time, do not limit yourself to the usual water pursuits but instead branch out a bit and try something new! White water rafting is a great way for those who have never gotten up close and personal with a river before to give it a serious try.

Cerebral pursuits are always in season, and you may find that visiting a city that is home to a large number of cultural venues is just what you need to wind down from the hectic wedding preparations and instead grow closer with your new spouse and begin building some wonderful memories that you both share together during your first vacation as husband and wife.
