Are You Sad About Soaring Gasoline Prices? Be Happy!

By: GARKO

I managed to find somebody yesterday who is optimistic about the US economy! . He was quite a smart fellow who owns a print and copy shop and owns a masters degree in economics. No dummy. His viewpoint did make sense. He says that the crash of the dollar means that the US can export goods again and be competitive and that this will usher in a new era of revitalized manufacturing in America and ultimately cause a financial boom. I don’t know if this is true. But it was nice to meet at least one sentient person who is also optimistic. If one steps back and takes a deep breath and looks at the shocking increase in gas prices then they can apply this same brand of optimism. .
There is one great benefit of the soaring price of oil that environmentalists should be celebrating: it is making alternative energy much more attractive, so much so that the high price may just be thing that the facilitates a tidal wave of alternative energy projects that will, consequently, lead to a greater share of the market and perhaps the movement of alternative fuel sources into the mainstream. This would be a great thing.
The present scenario is that the high price of energy is doing some pretty bad things -- but if a shift to saner energy solutions results, this silver lining may end up being an amazing turning point in history.
The longer gas prices remain at prices most people consider unacceptable, the greater the potential consumer response. A 10% rise in gas prices lowers consumption by just roughly half a percent in the short term, but it can reduce demand much more substantially over a the long haul

As consumers make major spending decisions, such as where to live and what kind of vehicle to drive, they are starting to consider the price of gas into the equation. Some are opting for smaller cars or are moving closer to their jobs to cut down on drive time.
The current situation "crisis" has halted or impeded many new subdivisons, high gasoline prices have lessened consumption and restrained purchasing of gas-guzzlers, and soaring construction costs are restraining new coal and gas refineries.
At the same time, economic incentives are creating a frenzy of new renewable energy construction.
But the truly fascinating thing is that all this is occuring while the real remedy for to increase in gas mileage and helping the environment through cleaner emissions is RIGHT HERE AT WATER4GAS
